Jens is the man!

It is not everyday that you are asked to design a collection for Topshop, without being some-what of a big shot, heavy-weight designer or celebrity these days. So that makes Jens Laugesen one hell of a designer. Hailing from the UK, but of Danish birth, Laugesen has a collection of awards and accolades to his name. The LVMH prize, London's new-up-and -coming designer in 2002, as well as having Rei Kawakubo buy his entire collection for her shop in London, up-coming Topshop capsule collection and recently named as one of Fashion Forward's winning designers for 2007 as London's fashion elite looked on. His designs are renowned for clean minimalist shapes and cuts, with a play on black, white and grey colours.

We at Akiin are big fans of Mr Laugesen, having quite a few pieces between the two of us. We can honestly say they are pieces every wardrobe should have. Keep it coming Mr Laugesen!

Wow I really dig this designer.....does he design dresses? I need one soon for a formal type event. Where in Brisbane can I get Jens Laugesen? Anyone?

I agree, this designer sounds interesting and different. Plus he designs for mens as well which is a bonus. Not many designers make garments for men that a different. They all look like the same crap over and over. Maybe Australian designers need a wake-up call.

Once again brilliant posts guys or gals or both? Keep it coming.

Yeah, I have seen some Laugesen dresses. You should go to his website. I think there are some boutiques in Melbourne or Sydney that has the label, I dunno about Brisvegas.

It seems that Topshop really has no permanent designer. Or do they? I think this range from Jens Laugesen is going to be much better than the one that Kate Moss did. Cos it sure looks crap. Then again a model designing garments? Don't quit your day-job.

Topshop is always having some international designer or celebrity doing the collections. Give an up-and -coming new designer a chance maybe you'd be surprised. P.s I agree with deebs, Kate's collection did suck.

Is that May Andersen the Danish crazy model in the far left corner? She is one fiesty hottie. If you guys think Naomi Campbell is bad, May was charged with assault for bashing up an airline attendant. Fiesty ey.
